Graduation Weekend!!

Justin & Me

We made it through a really busy celebratory weekend!

We started the weekend by taking the boys to the McKinsey's Children's Holiday party. I left around 2:30ish (without my camera) and we made it to Justin's office at 3:45. The boys were SO excited to go to "daddy's work" and even more excited that there was a Kids Party there where they would see Santa! The boys were happy walking around meeting/flirting with people (naturally, Caleb talked to everyone). The Kids Party was really nice.....Caleb immediately found a magician/entertainer and sat down and watched, participated and enjoyed a few Christmas cookies. Sammy walked around and really just took it all in - - he was also happy to sit and eat cheese and crackers with me. The most exciting part of the party was the arrival of Santa Claus - the boys faces just lit up and they both received a nice gift. Sammy was REALLY excited about his gift - I think he and grandpa spent alot of time playing w/ it over the wknd.

After the holiday party, we went out to eat with Justin's Kellogg group. We went to John's Place in Lincoln Park, which is the great neighborhood restaurant we used to go every Sunday night after church. It was nice to be back...great food and very kid friendly (but not your typical kid friendly place). We had a nice dinner w/ Justin's friends, their wives and a few of their children.

The boys both thought it was pretty cool on Saturday to see that both sets of grandparents were here. The last time they were together was Sam' Baptism...and apparently Caleb didn't remember b/c he told my dad "come meet granddad". hahahaha. Unfortunately, Chris's family couldn't make it as planned b/c they all ended up getting the stomach flu - - I was sad we weren't able to spend time with them.

Casey met us all at the graduation ceremony. Caleb sat with him and grandpa and was an angel the entire ceremony, which was about 2 hours. Some guy afterwards commented and said that my 4 year old was so well behaved. I told him he was actually 3 years old and the guy said "wow - he did REALLY well. He sat through the ceremony better than I did!". Sam did great for the first 1/2 hour (w/ food) and then my mom took him out for awhile so he could run around alittle.

It was a nice ceremony and they had a really nice reception afterwards. My parents took the boys home after the ceremony so Justin, his parents & I could really enjoy the reception. It was nice to meet a few other people I have heard alot about and to talk to some of the wives I have enjoyed talking to over the past 2 years.
When we got home, my mom had appetizers out and dinner almost ready for us!! We enjoyed dinner, put the boys down for bed and watched part of Christmas Vacation. :)

This morning we celebrated Sammy's Birthday alittle. He opened a few presents that he was very excited about - - he played with his new Doodle Pro & grocery cart all afternoon. Ken & Sherri left around 11:00 and my parents left around 1:00. The boys (including Justin) took a nice long much needed nap and afterwards, we did alittle Christmas shopping, went to blockbuster, had dinner and watched "The Flight Before Christmas"...cute movie.

Overall, it was a really nice weekend. Busy, but really nice to have the family around to celebrate Justin's huge accomplishment. I'm not sure who is more relieved that the Kellogg Program is over....Justin or me. It's been a long ride.
