10 for 10
It's October 11 and I haven't yet blogged this month. Instead of writing about everything we have done, I will write our top 10 list for the first 10 days of October. In no particular order, here's what I/we have loved so far this month:
1) the weather. crazy warm, perfect fall weather. no jacket has been required for any of these october days. it doesn't get much better than that. it smells incredible outside too.
2) a weekend with my best best college friends...one of them was married in green bay on saturday, and we had friends staying overnight at our place on friday. i think i saw about 10 of my very good college friends and we all had a *blast*...and a hangover on sunday morning. ;)
3) a night away for justin and i meant the kids had a fun sleepover at my mom & dad's. according to grandma, the kids were very well behaved and ate like they hadn't been fed in weeks. when we picked them up, they were all outside - boys were raking/playing in leaves with grandpa, izzy was playing soccer with grandma. sam thought they should've stayed one more night.
4) found out tonight at swimming lessons that caleb can swim the length of a pool without the use of any flotation device (or stops). i think this is huge. HUGE. soooo proud of him.
5) a visit from mary (my mom's cousin) last week. my whole family loves spending time with her...fortunately we were able to see her alot. she and my mom even came over to help me hang halloween lights one afternoon!
6) watching/listening to isabella. i swear she has changed so much recently. she knows almost all her letters and colors, she can easily do any of her puzzles, she loves reading books (and actually recites them), she counts and covers her eyes when she plays hide & seek and she now thinks she can go up and down the stairs w/o holding onto the handrails. such a big girl.
7) realizing that my 3 1/2 year old is truly a good helper...he vacuumed my car, he really helped me clean my house for our company this past wknd (vacuums/dusts), he helped me put out more halloween decorations and do other outdoor work (rake/clean out garden/etc). and today, he helped in another way. caleb had to bring a pumpkin to school today, and this morning I told him that his pumpkin was already in the car. sam asked "mom, how will caleb know which pumpkin is his in the classroom?" ...a good reminder that I needed to put his name on the bottom. like i said, truly a good helper.
8) volunteering again in sam's classroom (last monday).
9) going to another high school soccer game last week...perfect weather, surrounded by family and kids had fun playing with their friends.
10) fall food...pumpkin creamer, pumpkin scones & muffins and my mom's homemade carmel corn. yum.
