It's Good to be Sam

Sam has had it pretty good lately. Okay, he ALWAYS has it pretty good, but lately there have been some - in his words - "awesome days".

Last Thursday I took Caleb back to Children's in Milwaukee (Izzy came w/ us and stayed at my friend's house)....Sam was thrilled when I told him that Uncle Casey was spending the morning with him and would take him to school in the afternoon. He could hardly wait to spend alone time w/ Casey. When the two of them left our house that morning, I'm not sure who had a bigger smile on his face....they were heading to the golf course. They had Sam's favorite for lunch too - - Jimmy Johns. Casey was shocked that Sam can put away an entire sub. Sam was even more excited b/c Casey let him drink "orange pop" there. Perfect morning/lunch for Sam.

Friday, Sam had a field trip to Maywood (environmental park). It was a quick field trip and close to our house (and Justin's work) so Justin decided to take a lunch break and join Sam's class. Sam was soooo happy. He also had gymnastics and soccer that day...and we ate out w/ a few fun families after soccer and he had a blast there too (as did Caleb & Izzy)

Saturday, Caleb had a friend over to play after soccer....fortunately, the boys were super nice and let Sam & Izzy play with them the ENTIRE time. Sam was so happy. He also went to a birthday party for a friend late afternoon. It was at a bowling alley and although he had never bowled, you never would be able to tell. He asked if I would stay to watch him one time...it was hilarious. He put his fingers right in the ball and threw it down the lane w/ one arm like he had done it a million times. It surprised me b/c the kids that went before him grabbed the ball w/ both hands and threw the ball like a normal kid would...I just thought he'd do that too. Seriously, when I picked him up later, the parents/relatives of the birthday boy kept telling me what a good bowler Sam is. HA! I guess Wii bowling has turned him into a bowler.

Sunday: Sam became super excited about a new game Justin bought from my nephew...Xbox 360...he is LOVING a soccer game. It was a rainy day and we were doing more spring cleaning so he got in alot of playing time, which made him sooo happy. We also invited granny over for dinner (my dad was out of town)...that always makes Sam happy.

Today: ANOTHER field trip...this time I went along and this time we headed to one of our favorite places - Bookworm Gardens! So fun. He felt pretty cool b/c he wore his Bookworm Gardens t-shirt (from camp) and the educator/leader there noticed his shirt AND she knew his name (and only his)....made him feel so special and proud.

He has some pretty cool things coming up too...we were talking about them tonight, which made me think "wow, that kid has it MADE right now." And just a few minutes went by after we talked about upcoming fun things....without us asking, he moved the chairs out of the kitchen, grabbed a broom and swept under the table and the rest of the kitchen. He must be feeling pretty grateful too.
