Our Little Sam
Sammy has been trying hard lately to either break a bone or get a few stitches (he thought his cousin Alex's were cool). He hasn't been successful YET, but yesterday he managed to get a nice bump and bruise on the side of his eye (pictures don't do it justice...you can't even see in this photo) and today he fell into a bookshelf (going full speed) and gave himself a nice cut above his eye...he's really doing a number on this eye! Of course, before we could even stop the bleeding he was wanting to run around again. We were literally trying to take care of his cut while he was jumping up and down on a chair grinning from ear to ear. These things just don't phase him for more than about 20 seconds. We'll see what his eye looks like tomorrow.
Sammy is talking more and more each day. He is even putting two words together now! The other day when Justin was home he heard the toilet flush upstairs and he said "dada bafroom" (bathroom). He will also say "more cookie" or whatever he is eating instead of just saying "more". He doesn't do this all the time, but he's getting it. We also hear "shoes off" or "shoes on". The other thing he is doing now that I'm impressed with is puzzles. He is really good at them and he surprisingly enjoys SITTING DOWN to do them!
And last week, Sammy really impressed all the moms (including myself) in Music Class. You are not allowed to wear shoes in class and most people leave their shoes outside the room. One woman, who is ALWAYS there before us keeps her shoes next to the piano. I personally knew whose shoes they were just by how the woman dresses...I just figured they were hers. Last week while we were singing a song, Sammy (who, as many of you know, is obsessed with shoes) walked over to the shoes, picked them up and brought them to the woman. As we were all singing, the woman looked at me with big eyes and said "oh my gosh, how did he know these are mine?" ( there are maybe 7 other moms in class). The song ended and everyone was laughing that he knew whose shoes they belonged to. I told them that Sam always brings everyone at home their shoes so it was funny he brought her shoes to her. She kept repeating "but how did he know these were mine?" (I have no idea) And finally she just said "He is seriously the smartest baby I have ever seen in my life".
Smart, fearless, funny and just *alittle* naughty....that's our Sammy.
