A Fun Weekend
The boys had a great time this weekend playing w/ their cousins, Alex & Zach. Chris arrived with the boys on Saturday around noon and Jen arrived around dinnertime - she was already in chicago for work. The boys began their play immediately....Caleb & Sam took Alex into their playroom and they quietly played in there for about 2 hours! It was delightful. While Sammy napped, Alex & Caleb enjoyed some time outside...playing on the swingset, at the water table, running through the sprinkler and then they enjoyed a snack at the picnic table. They later ganged up on Sam and sprayed him with the hose. Sammy, of course, loves this. Uncle Chris saw this happen and probably thought this was not a nice thing for Caleb & Alex to do to Sam, but Sammy thinks it's great. He and Caleb are happiest when soaked with water and running around outside...what could be better?
We celebrated Alex's 3rd birthday Saturday night...mexican food and cupcakes...and, of course, presents. Caleb was proud that we were eating the cupcakes he made and he wanted to be sure that he himself handed Alex his presents. The boys had alot of fun together on Saturday and they played very nicely together - it was a really nice day.
This morning we had a nice lazy morning. The boys played and we sat around, drank coffee and talked. We headed outside late morning and the boys rode bikes and played in the front yard for awhile before heading to the backyard for more "water" activities. Justin put up a big water slide (that is really Calian & Brayden's...we'll give it back sometime soon - ha) and the boys had fun playing on that. We grilled out for lunch...Caleb had 2 hotdogs and about 1/2 of Alex's and 3 helpings of fruit and a cookie. Sam is back to eating a ton as well, so Chris and Jen were able to see how much food these boys consume....and run off. They played HARD today. I think Alex had it with all the outdoor activites, so he came in for some nice quiet play while Caleb & Sam continued to run themselves ragged outside.
Zach spent some time outside too...watching all the boys. We put up alittle tent for him and he enjoyed sitting up on his own and playing with toys. Sammy loves Zach. He always brought him toys or his pacifier if he found it laying around somewhere. He also cried on Saturday night when Zach went upstairs to bed. I asked if he wanted the baby and he said "uh huh". Sammy did a better (but still not great) about me holding Zach. He's very jealous of me holding other kids (although if Caleb is in my lap, he doesn't care). He got mad a few times while I held cute little Zach, but got over it faster than usual.
Chris, Jen, Alex & Zach headed out around 2:00 and the 4 of us all took a nice long nap. This evening was beautfiul so we took a walk (caleb on his bike, of course)...since Caleb was leading the way, we ended up at the park so the boys played there for awhile before coming home for dinner, bath and bed! They both fell asleep right away....they were tired out after a busy, non-stop play weekend outdoors with family!
