The Boys Spend the Weekend In Wisconsin
This picture is from Christmas, but is one of my favorites....and since Caleb spent time in Wisconsin this weekend, I thought I could us it for the blog. :)
Justin had a work conference in Vail (actually, Beaver Creek...which is even nicer than Vail) last week. He left for CO earlier in the week, and I left on Thursday morning for Wisconsin. Grandma & Grandpa graciously accepted my plea to watch the boys for a few days so I could spend a day or two away. I left Friday morning before the boys woke up and we were back in Wisconsin on Sunday...before the SuperBowl. It was a nice getaway....and after looking after our boys, is probably something my parents could use. :)
Caleb & Sam had a great time. Calian was a HUGE help and spent ALOT of time at my parents house, which was probably appreciated by both my parents AND Caleb! From what he tells me, here are Caleb's highlights from the long wknd at Grandma's:
1) playing trains with Mally and spending time w/ Casey
2) going to Calian's basketball game
3) grandma giving him a fun bath with orange bathwater and Scooby bubbles.
4) having a snowball fight with Grandpa & Calian
5) going to Culvers with grandma, grandpa & Calian (and Sam)
6) Amy coming over and bringing more fun toys to play with (she was cleaning out her basement and found some old good toys!)
7) watching the SuperBowl with Uncle Dave
8) eating grandma's chocolate chip cookies
9) getting a new pillow from Calian (that he made)
10) having Brayden make tunnels for him to hide in
I'm assuming that Sam had a great time too....he is extremely high maintenance (always needs to be watched...he gets into EVERYTHING) and fortunately, there was always someone to play with both Caleb AND Sam so they each got plenty of attention and had a very good time. Sam was teething alittle while there, so he quickly became clingy to grandma (in fact, he was still clinging to her even when I was there!)
Justin and I returned at the perfect time....in time to hang out with family, watch a GREAT SuperBowl and eat the yummiest football food!! We got back home yesterday afternoon and had time to unpack alittle, eat and play.
Back to reality...the boys have done surprisingly well today. We went to the store to get fruit and veges and they were both angels. They have played nicely together, and Caleb has talked alot about what he did at Grandma's house (and has wanted to play more basketball than usual..proabably since going to Calian's game).
So my story from today is this....Caleb has a "Potty Sticker Chart" and has actually managed to fill a few squares over the past 2 weeks. He has done a pretty good job, considering the fact that I'M not ready (more on this some other time). When this chart is full, he gets to pick out a new train. Of course, the train he wants is not a Thomas Train - it's a GEO Trax Train (Aero)...and you can ONLY get this train by buying an ENTIRE Geo Trax set (sometimes you can just get the train...but no, not Aero...which is probably why he is picking this train!!). Today, as he was playing nicely on his workbench (and probably wetting his pants) he says "mama, you can buy Aero on PBS Kids.Org" "WHAT?" And he just hammers in another nail and repeats himself. I seriously feel like he's 8 years old sometimes. An 8 year old in a diaper.

It is scary what they pick up from the commercials. Alex wanted some of those AquaDots that got recalled b/c the commercial plays on an old show that is still on the Tivo.
Glad that the boys enjoyed their time in Wisconsin. Your parents are such a huge help.
