Field Trip Day!!
Caleb's preschool had a really cool field trip today. We went to the Woodlot Outdoor Gallery (in Sheboygan) and both kids & moms had a great time. The owner is in his late 70s and had fun watching the kids enjoy the the sculptures and listening to their interpretations of them. The one in the picture was my favorite, and it's clearly a flower, but others were very abstract and it was fun to ask the kids "what do you think that is?" ...very creative answers.
The property that this gallery is on is amazing....beautiful wooded lot AND it's on the beach (this is also the owners residence....and they have a tennis court overlooking the lake/beach...gorgeous). Anyway - the kids loved running around in the woods, climbing the sculptures (which the owner actually encouraged them to do), swinging on his tree swing (see pics) and running on the beach....and getting their feet wet in the chilly lake. It was a pretty day, but alittle too cool to get wet. A few of the kids didn't seem to mind the temperature and decided to get wet anyway.
Miss Keeley is seriously one of the most creative people I have ever met. She found what most people would consider "trash" while walking on the beach and said "hey, we can do alot with this...come on kids, this is going to be FUN"....they jumped rope with it, did the limbo and did another jumping game with it (see pics). And on the walk through the woods I heard her say "oooh kids, look at this huge piece of bark - this is great. Remind me on the way out to grab that for our classroom."
Click on the pic to see more...there are alot of good pics that capture our fun day.
And while Caleb & I enjoyed the field trip, Sam & Isabella had fun at Grandma's house. Sammy LOVES being "dropped off" there. He told me today that he would like to be dropped off there EVERY day. Ha. He played outside, painted (brave grandma), played cars and when I arrived, he & my mom were playing catch....and Isabella was in her excersaucer watching them and laughing.
And since our house is ...well, under construction (loud, lots of dust...and guys working), we stayed at grandma's for "quiet time" (we've been doing this alot this wk b/c of the mess & noise). The best part about this today? Grandma took Caleb over to Amy's house (where there was a fire in the fireplace & chocolate chip cookies fresh from the oven) while Izzy, Sammy and *I* were able to nap. Delightful.
