My Tonsil & Adnoid-less Trooper

Sam has been such a little trooper today....we have been so proud of him. We get him up at 5:30am and although he is not quite sure he wants to go to the hospital, my mom (who was responsible for my other 2) gives him another big eyed stuffed animal (in pic) and he smiles and puts on his shoes and socks and heads to the car. Who knew his new monkey was going to scrub in that day?!? :) Sam is great at the hospital....does not even care to leave Justin, Amy and I in the hospital room - happily walks with his new nurse friend and Dr Monkey to have his surgery (and does not have a drop of medicine in him at this time). No tears at ALL in the hospital. The nurses love him (probably b/c there is no screaming from him....and he's pretty darn cute). He is happy that Amy (who works there) is around so much, both during and after surgery, and he was also very glad that Granny arrived after dropping Caleb off at school. Lots of family around as well as excellent nurses made the morning easy for him....he was even offered a wagon ride back to the car (although he decided half-way there that he preferred to walk....so Sammy).

Time at home of course is different than time in the hospital...the numbing medicine wears off before it's supposed to and popsicles can only do so much. If he's not sleeping right now, he's crying. I think it's going to be a loooong night. The meds prescribed don't seem to be doing much for the pain...I might ask Dr. Monkey for a better prescription.
